About Donya
Native speaker and CELTA graduate, experienced in teaching both beginner and upper intermediate classes with adult students from a range of backgrounds. Recently started as a volunteer English teacher for KRAN, a charity that supports young asylum seekers. This involves mixed-ability classes of 12-14 pupils; improving their language ability, helps students with independence and adjusting to their new culture. Previously, I facilitated a reading scheme in a secondary school to support students with poor literacy skills.

My lessons begin with a needs analysis to better understand the level of my students. This includes questions on why a student wants to learn English, to hone in on the specific areas needing improvement. I use listening and reading comprehension exercises, to tailor activities to specific needs. I will plan out specific goals with my student, to ensure they meet agreed outcomes by the end of the lesson.
I'm confident teaching in all areas of language, including: form/meaning/structure, functions, vocabulary, pronunciation, skills (listening, speaking/reading/writing) and grammar. I appreciate the varied learning styles and can accommodate to these styles (e.g. visual learners), through the activities I select.
