About Katie

Hi, I'm Katie! I have first-hand experience in learning three foreign languages - now let me help you achieve your goals!

My last seven years in the world of education has been quite an adventure! I am a CELTA certified English teacher and I have helped many students, children and adults, achieve their linguistic goals. I have a PGCE in MFL Education and I am also a secondary school and college teacher, which means that I am DBS approved.

Outside of teaching, travelling is my biggest passion; exploring new destinations and immersing myself in different cultures is an exciting adventure. I used to live in Spain (Madrid) and Italy (Bologna). I also adore singing and musical theatre. I can't wait to hear about your interests and hobbies, so that we can make these part of your learning experience! Teaching is my true passion. I find immense joy in helping people break down language barriers and connect with others. I also firmly believe in being a reflective educator, and this is why I stay up to date with the latest effective teaching methods and trends. I do all of this to ensure that you are confident in your progress.

About the lesson

Your first lesson is a free 45-minute trial session, giving us the opportunity to get to know one another and discuss your language-learning goals. During this session, we'll chat about your background, current level of English, and what you'd like to achieve. I'll carry out a relaxed assessment of your speaking, listening, reading and grammar, answer any questions you may have, and explain how my lessons work. By the end of the session, I'll create a personalised learning plan tailored to your needs.

My lessons focus on real-life communication, helping you build confidence in speaking, listening, reading and writing. Whether you're learning Spanish for travel, work, relocation, exams, or simply for the love of the language, every lesson is designed around your goals and learning style.

I teach learners of all ages and abilities. I have experience teaching primary-aged children, specialising in supporting students through IELTS English, and working with adult learners from complete beginners to advanced speakers. Whatever your age or reason for learning, I adapt my teaching style, pace and resources to suit you.

I use a variety of resources, including authentic articles, videos, music, podcasts and textbooks, to make lessons engaging and enjoyable. We will have regular check-ins to review your progress, with informal assessments to help track your development and celebrate your achievements. If you'd like additional practice between lessons, I'm also happy to provide optional homework that complements what we've covered in class, along with personalised feedback.

Above all, I strive to create a friendly, supportive and stress-free learning environment where you feel comfortable making mistakes and building confidence.

Details

The first lesson is a free 45-minute introductory session, allowing you to experience what a typical lesson will be like. Following this, lessons are £30 per hour, with discounted bundles available for multiple bookings of 5 and 10 lessons. Every lesson is personalised to your goals and includes carefully prepared resources sent to you after the lesson (a PowerPoint and a worksheet). If requested, I can also provide optional homework and additional activities to reinforce your learning between lessons.

Throughout your course, we will have regular check-ins and informal progress assessments to monitor your development and ensure you're on track to achieve your goals. I am also happy to recommend films, music, podcasts and other authentic resources to support your learning outside of lessons.

Cancellation Policy

Please give at least 24 hours' notice if you need to cancel or reschedule a lesson. In the event of an emergency, no cancellation fee will apply. Otherwise, the full lesson fee may be charged.

Attendance

I will remain online for 15 minutes after the scheduled lesson start time. If there is no attempt to join or make contact within that time, the lesson will be considered completed.
