About Genie

I am a Korean Australian and a certified ESL (English as a Second Language) teacher with a CELTA qualification based in Sydney, Australia. I worked for 17 years at one of Australia’s top law firms, gaining strong experience in Business English and professional communication.

I love languages, hiking, cooking, Latin dancing, Latin music, playing tennis, science, animals, making fermented foods like Kimchi, Makgeolli, kefir etc, film & TV series, and exploring great restaurants to enjoy delicious international dishes.

I have always been passionate about languages. I was fluent in Japanese and also I've been learning Spanish so now I can speak it pretty comfortably.

As a language learner myself, I understand how challenging it can be to master a new language. Making mistakes is a natural and essential part of the learning process, so there’s no need to be afraid of speaking, even with errors. I’m here to help you correct those mistakes and guide you on your journey to speaking English fluently in no time!

About the lesson

My lessons are student-centred and focus on speaking but I also help with vocabulary, grammar, reading, listening and writing depending on your English level, goals, interests, motivation and preferred learning methods.

Language learning goes beyond just the language itself—it’s also about understanding the culture. In my lessons, you’ll explore the history, fascinating backstories, and hidden gems of the culture alongside the language.

A wide variety of lesson materials will be incorporated to maintain your engagement and motivation. Always on the lookout for great resources and new teaching/learning methods online to improve. Homework will be provided to speed up your learning pace but it’s optional. Detailed written feedback will also be provided regularly.
