About Jonathan
I know that subjects like economics, maths and econometrics can be daunting, but I truly believe that they don't have to be. With the right approach and mindset, these topics can be creative and enjoyable.
Intuition and conceptual understanding are like riding a bike: once they're there, solving any problem is almost automatic. There's a moment in most good tutoring sessions where something that felt abstract or overwhelming suddenly clicks. The maths starts telling a clear story, and the student can see why it works rather than just how to do it. That's what I aim for in every session.
I'm patient, I don't assume prior knowledge that isn't there, and if something isn't landing I'll come at it from a different angle rather than just repeating the same explanation. Economics and maths can feel intimidating, especially when the quantitative side ramps up, but anyone willing to put in the work can get there with the right support.

I'm a Cambridge economics graduate currently working as a pre-doctoral researcher at the London School of Economics (LSE), where my research focuses on labour markets using large-scale data and econometric methods. I tutor economics and maths at all levels from A-level and IB through to undergraduate and MSc.
My approach focuses on understanding and intuition building. I start by identifying exactly where the gap is, and then working through it together using a mix of explanation, worked examples, and practice problems.
Where applicable, I draw on my own research experience to show how econometric methods actually work in practice, which tends to make abstract concepts feel more concrete.
Sessions are typically 60 minutes for A-level and IB students, and 60 to 90 minutes for university-level work, though I'm happy to adjust depending on what suits you. I can help with regular weekly sessions for ongoing support, intensive exam revision blocks, problem set walkthroughs, or dissertation guidance for MSc students working with data.
I have tutored econometrics and maths throughout my time at Cambridge, and I bring the same patient, structured approach to all my tutoring.
