About Guy
I usually tutor with graduate level students who are either getting their MBA or PhD. These students are from China, South Korea, and Thailand and have intense requirements for English writing. I review and provide comments that make their writing look like that of a native English writer. I've been told by one of my students that the help I provided was better than that of her private editor in South Korea. We also work on pronunciation, conversation, and business vocabulary. Our meetings give them an advantage over their peers and make them more competitive in the job market. Within the last year I've earned my TEFL certification and have worked with 7 students who will soon earn their degrees.

I personalize my teaching to meet the needs of each student. Our meetings are very conversational and I provide them suggestions for improvement. Of the different language skills, writing is often the most difficult, so this is where a lot of time is spent. I also often work on pronunciation through identifying their weaknesses and helping them practice. Both writing and pronunciation are especially important for professionals to be taken seriously and to get their ideas across.
When teaching something new I follow the PPP method: I first Present the information, then have the student Practice it, and finally have them Produce, where they use what they've learned in context. I also provide additional practie for them to work on to be reviewed by me at the start of the next lesson.
