About Jennifer

I was awarded a TEFL certificate in 2014 and have experience as a teacher in Thailand, teaching children aged 3-12 at an alternative school and students aged 17-25 at a hostel.

I also have experience in the UK with helping primary school children read, write and use dictionaries. Also I taught secondary school children within the Design and Technology departments.

My most recent experience has been teaching online through a phone app. I teach children aged 3-13 and have conversational lessons with children and adults. I was helping a lady with correct pronunciation and I've also helped to proofread and correct a students personal statement for university.

About the lesson

Hi my name is Jennifer and I have had experience with teaching online through a mobile phone app as well as in different settings like school's and a hostel.

It is important to me that my students can approach me with confidence and ease, so I like to plan lessons around what my students want to learn.

I prefer to teach teens to adults and those who have a good grasp of the English language. I want to help you to excel and become fluent in speaking, writing and reading, and also listening.

I introduce the subject and break it down into chunks. For example, when teaching pronunciation lessons I break the word down into sounds so you understand the phonics involved. Then we move onto words that sound the same and if it's relevant words that look the same but do not sound the same

E.g. four
Sounds the same: tour, your, bore, door, more
Looks the same but does not sound the same: hour, our

Then we look at tongue twisters to add a bit of fun to the lesson!

I always adjust the lesson to suit the ability of the student, but it is important that you communicate to me if you struggle or are not challenged.
