Hi all!
The most beautiful quote I've ever seen about the process of learning comes from Andrew Wiles, famous for proving Fermat's Last Theorem:
"Perhaps I could best describe my experience of doing mathematics in terms of entering a dark mansion. You go into the first room and it's dark, completely dark. You stumble around, bumping into the furniture. Gradually, you learn where each piece of furniture is. And finally, after six months or so, you find the light switch and turn it on. Suddenly, it's all illuminated and you can see exactly where you were. Then you enter the next dark room...".

This informs my philosophy for teaching mathematics, as an unfolding process of understanding and exploration!

Education has always been of great interest to me, and I led a personalized mathematics education startup for several years, focused on achieving the best outcomes for the largest number of students by meeting them where they are.

Outside of teaching, I am an avid writer of poetry and music, a keen endurance athlete, and have been very lucky to be able to travel widely across this beautiful world.

About the lesson

There's nothing like the moment when something clicks, both for the student and the teacher! I aim to teach complex subjects at an accessible level, with a focus on robust understanding and practical application.

After completing my Leaving Cert in 2016, I taught grinds for over 7 years, helping close to 100 students with Math, Science, Physics, Chemistry, Applied Math, Irish and Spanish. I taught grinds throughout my undergraduate studies in Nanoscience, Physics, and the Chemistry of Advanced Materials in Trinity College Dublin, and continuing during my PhD research in Biomedical Nanoscience in Trinity and the Royal College of Surgeons in Ireland. Having taken a short break from teaching during the conclusion of my PhD research and first postdoctoral position, I am now energized to share my knowledge and help students achieve their full potential!

Lessons will last 50 minutes, and take place over webcam. I teach at all levels, from primary school through Junior and Leaving Certificate. Certain university teaching requests will require prior assessment of the curriculum to ensure I can provide the necessary expertise.
