About Ankita
I am an artist and an aspiring curator. I am passionate about arts education, and I believe that art practice should be taught alongside the history and culture of the world. It should encourage agency-driven, independent and critical thought from a young age.

I would like to foster an understanding of the world and its culture through art-making. Aimed at children aged 5-12 years old, my lessons will encourage students to question and challenge the norms of the society we live in, and form their own creative responses through drawing, painting, sculpture, and so on.
We will begin with each lesson introducing the student to a particular artist or art movement such as Impressionism, Dada, or Jackson Pollock. We will briefly discuss why this movement or artist was important, and we will attempt to produce a work in the style of the movement. The lessons will be fun and dynamic, with various challenges and exercises incorporated, such as quick timed drawings of 1-minute or 30 seconds, or drawing each others' facial expressions.
I will also be highlighting artists of minority backgrounds, who have not typically been included in the canon of Art History. As the lessons progress, we will eventually move on to broader topics such as race or feminism, and perhaps respond to each over multiple sessions.
Finally, the student will be encouraged to use materials that are available at home, such as recycled paper, cardboard, plastic, and so on. Through this, I want to instil in the student the idea that art can and should be for anyone to experience, regardless of who they are and what they have at their disposal.
