English
I’m an interdisciplinary artist and designer with a BFA from SCAD and an MFA from Pratt Institute. Over the past 10 years, I’ve worked across illustration, graphic design, branding, murals, and various other creative mediums. For the last year and a half, I’ve been teaching and tutoring students of all ages and skill levels.
My Teaching Approach
I believe in personalized, student-centered learning. Every person has different goals, interests, and learning styles, so I tailor each session to meet you where you are. My approach is collaborative and exploratory—we’ll work together to build your skills while encouraging creative experimentation and critical thinking.
Teaching Methods & Techniques
• Hands-on practice: Learning by doing is essential in art and design
• Visual demonstrations: I show techniques step-by-step and work alongside you
• Constructive feedback: I provide honest, supportive critiques to help you grow
• Concept exploration: We discuss the “why” behind techniques, not just the “how”
• Flexible pacing: We move at your speed, revisiting concepts as needed
A Typical Lesson Plan
Each session is customized, but generally follows this structure:
1. Check-in & Goal Setting (5-10 min): We discuss what you want to work on and any challenges you’re facing
2. Skill Building or Demonstration (15-20 min): I introduce or review techniques relevant to your project or goals
3. Hands-on Practice (30-40 min): You work on exercises or projects while I guide and provide feedback
4. Review & Next Steps (5-10 min): We reflect on progress and plan what to focus on next
For beginners, lessons might focus on fundamentals like composition, color theory, or software basics. For advanced students, we might dive into portfolio development, personal style exploration, or specific technical skills.
What Sets Me Apart
• Interdisciplinary expertise: My background spans fine art, graphic design, illustration, branding, and craft, so I can help you connect ideas across mediums
• Real-world experience: I bring practical insights from a decade of professional creative work
• Adaptability: I work with diverse age groups and skill levels, adjusting my teaching style to fit each student
• Passion for teaching: I genuinely love helping people discover and develop their creative voice
