A summary of a lesson plan for a typical lesson would be:
1. Start with a clear learning target. Define a clear learning goal from the students' perspective. For example, "I will be able to understand the Pythagoras theorem for solving real life situations"
2. Have a "do now" or warm up at the beginning. Draw situations when the academic content of the lesson works as a way to find answers to an unresolved problem. Exemplify a familiar situation where students would feel interested about the new topic. Geometry has many opportunities to use the Pythagoras theorem as a tool for finding new spatial measurements.
3. Make it interactive. Engage students in the building process of demonstrations of concepts such as the Pythagoras theorem. Doing calculations in the lesson, motivating students' participation to be part of the process.
4. Have an "exit ticket". How Do I know if students met my learning target? Asking concluding questions about the value of the new concepts we studied. Ask students conclusions and comments about how they would apply the new knowledge to solve relevant situations in their daily lives.
