About Carter
My education includes a bachelor's degree in electrical engineering and a master's degree in business administration. I have over 20 years of experience working as an electrical engineer. At the college level, I have 3 years of experience teaching as an adjunct faculty member at Ivy Tech Community College. I have over 2 years experience as a substitute teacher in Math and Science for grades 7-12. My father was a high school math teacher.

My teaching process includes the following:
1. Teach fundamental math principles (properties of geometric constructs, algebraic theorems and axioms, trigonometric theorems and axioms, differential calculus, integral calculus, statistical principles, probability theorems)
2. Apply mathematical techniques to practical situations in various fields of endeavor (physics, biology, engineering, economics, finance)
For middle school, the topics would be review of arithmetic, geometry, and algebra.
For high school, the topics would be geometry, algebra, trigonometry, pre-calculus, and introductory calculus.
For college students, the topics would be differential and integral calculus.
A lesson plan would include:
1. A quiz on the learning objectives of the previous lesson.
2. Enumeration of the mathematical principles to be learned in the current lesson.
3. A demonstration which involves walking through the solution process of one or more applicable problems step-by-step, using the mathematical principles previously presented in the current lesson.
4. The student is given one or more math problems to solve, with real-time guidance from the tutor.
5. The student is given homework exercises, the solution of which will be evaluated by the tutor before the next session.
My acquisition of mathematical knowledge and skills began with training by my father, who was a high school math teacher. Completion of my high school math classes prepared me to complete the math curriculum required in engineering school. After college, I worked as an engineer, applying math on a daily basis as a tool for analysis, problem-solving, and design.
These lessons are for students in grades 7 through 12, for first-year and second-year college students in math, science, engineering, and the mathematical aspects of business.
