About Jaya

I have twelve years of ESL teaching experience: Australia (Adelaide, Darwin, Brisbane, and the Gold Coast, 2019–2026), and before this, five years overseas in Taiwan, Thailand, and the UAE - my students have been from kindergarten age through to elderly adults, taught in schools and private lessons — both online and in-person. I continue to teach privately via Zoom calls (webcam, online) to both international and local Australian students, helping them progress steadily or quickly depending on their dedication.

About the lesson

MY METHODOLOGY: I teach English starting with a strong foundation in phonics* so students can read, write, and speak clearly. I love focusing on conversational practice and helping students develop strong, confident reading habits. I also provide targeted support to boost confidence for IELTS tests.

BACKGROUND: I hold a TESOL III qualification (to Canadian standards) and have twelve (12) years of international teaching experience in private and vocational colleges, as well as one-on-one online tutoring via Zoom. Most recently, I completed a two-year tenure teaching ESL at a large vocational college in Brisbane, all while continuing to tutor privately online from home.

It was an excellent way to learn more and better.

PACKAGES - Cost per 75-minutes lesson
~ Starter 1 × 75 min = 1.25 hrs @$75 ($60.00/hr) = $75.00 per lesson
~ Progress 4 × 75 min = 5 hrs @$280 ($56.00/hr) = $70.00 per lesson
~ Fluency 5 × 75 min = 6.25 hrs @$340 ($54.40/hr) = $68.00 per lesson
~ Advanced 10 × 75 min = 12.5 hrs @ $620 ($49.60/hr) = $62.00 per lesson
~ Mastery 10 × 120-min = 20 hrs @$1000 ($50.00/hr) = $100.00 per 2-hrs

NB. LESSONS MUST BE KEPT CONSECUTIVE ONCE BOOKED
- 6-hours notice required if the student is proven to be in hospital;
- 48-hours notice is given to me for regular changes;
- a 50% retainer fee required for 'no-show' - that is only fair as this is after all, my paid employment!
