About Lily
Hello! I’m Lily Couchman, an enthusiastic and experienced art lecturer specializing in printmaking, multimedia, illustration, drawing, and painting. I am passionate about helping students of all levels explore their creativity, develop technical skills, and express themselves through art. I bring a rich and diverse background to teaching. Alongside my fine art training (A-Level Fine Art), I’ve worked as a life model, taught painting classes, and led workshops in illustration, printmaking, and mixed media. I also take commissions for linocut prints, surfboard illustrations, and pet portraits, as well as designing and producing custom shoe art, which taught me the importance of precision, creativity, and meeting client briefs. My experience extends beyond the studio: I’ve worked on large-scale festival projects, including tent rigging and event support at Glastonbury Festival, which strengthened my organizational, problem-solving, and teamwork skills under fast-paced conditions. These experiences allow me to bring real-world creativity and practical insight into my teaching. My style is patient, encouraging, and adaptable, creating a fun and supportive environment where students feel confident experimenting with different mediums and techniques. Whether you’re a beginner eager to learn foundational skills or an advanced student aiming to refine your style, I’m excited to guide you on your artistic journey and help you unlock your full creative potential.

My lessons are hands-on, practical, and tailored to your creative goals. Whether you’re a complete beginner exploring art for the first time or a student building and refining your portfolio, I’ll help you develop confidence and skill through enjoyable, structured sessions.
Each lesson blends creativity with academic understanding — focusing on composition, perspective, tone, and form while encouraging experimentation and personal expression. I guide students through lino printing, illustration, drawing, and mixed media projects, helping you discover your own artistic style and build strong technical foundations.
You’ll learn through demonstrations, one-on-one guidance, and constructive feedback in a relaxed, encouraging environment. My aim is to help you not only improve your techniques but also understand the *why* behind each artistic decision, so you can grow as an independent and confident artist.
