About Arlen

I am 23, queer and chronically ill- art has been my specialism since I was a child and I am more than qualified to help you with your creative endeavours. Tutoring is what is most accessible to me as I am able to build our lessons around your needs. I grew up with deaf parents and am fluent in BSL as well as being experienced and equipped to accommodate any access needs you may have. I run disability-centred craft workshops and have been a personal tutor and editor for aspiring artists. I have worked as a GCSE art tutor for students who went on to get accepted through A-Levels and are now in university.

About the lesson

I can build lesson plans around your needs to offer bespoke 1:1 tutoring. Do you have children that you want to encourage to express themselves through making? or - are you stuck with a project and need someone who understands and supports your process? I have a first-class bachelor's degree in fine art and passed previous stages of art education with distinctions, A*s and 9. I can help support your work for an exam or portfolio review for applications. Research and understanding is just as important as technical skill and so classes will combine making with understanding processes as we learn. I will tailor the lessons to suit the age and experience level, from childminding to a career change. I can cover traditional technical skills within drawing, such as how to study form, understanding colour theory, working with negative space etc. I also like to combine this with experimental ways of drawing to get more comfortable with the process. Pulling inspiration from your personal goals and interests if it is comics, film, music we will take a multi-media approach to exploring these creatively. I am a freelance multidisciplinary artist with years of experience running workshops and facilitating teaching. First lesson is free! Lessons work best between 1-3 hours and in person however, depending on your needs I am happy to do to 1:1 remote tutorials. :)
