About Jon
I’m a 2:1 BSc Architecture graduate from UWE Bristol, with a background in Fine Art, Maths and Psychology. My experience in both Fine Art and architecture has given me a strong interest in how ideas develop, from an initial thought or observation through to a finished piece or project.
I enjoy exploring different ways of thinking creatively and believe that all ideas are worth exploring. Sometimes the more unexpected ideas are the ones that challenge us most and help us grow. For me, an idea doesn’t have to be conventional, but there should always be substance behind it. I’m keen to help students develop their own ideas, confidence and creative voice.

My approach is to help you understand and develop your work rather than simply tell you what to change. Sometimes you can become so involved in a piece of work that it is difficult to see where an idea could go next. I try to offer a different perspective, helping you step back and look at your work in a new way.
I think the most important part of creative work is understanding what you are trying to communicate and why. An idea can be unusual or experimental, but having something behind it gives you a stronger foundation to develop from. I adapt my approach to each student, as there is no single way of making or thinking creatively.
The aim is to help you develop your own ideas and feel more confident in making creative decisions, rather than simply following someone else’s approach. Lessons are typically 60 minutes and are suitable for GCSE and A-level Art students, as well as students exploring art and design more generally.
