About Theon

My name is Theon Abbott. I recently graduated with a bachelor's degree in Applied Physics from Oregon State University (OSU). I am currently pursuing a master's degree there as well through their accelerated master's program and employed as an Engineer at Advanced Semiconductor Materials (ASM). As a learning assistant for the introductory calculus-based physics course, I have seen firsthand how challenging it can be to learn advanced concepts without a strong foundation in algebra and calculus. I have always enjoyed teaching and helping others develop a deep understanding of the material, and I look forward to working with students in many math subjects to build their confidence and problem-solving abilities.

About the lesson

My tutoring approach focuses on building a strong conceptual foundation and developing understanding through step-by-step explanations, graphing, visual aids, and real-world applications. I like to tailor lessons to the student, with additional practice problems available upon request. With experience applying calculus and precalculus in upper-division physics courses and a genuine passion for teaching, I aim to make challenging concepts intuitive and approachable. I welcome anyone eager to learn, specializing in college-level trigonometry, algebra, Calculus I–III, and calculus-based physics.
