About Tay

Hello! I am an American expatriate offering courses in English in a variety of subjects. I grew up in New York state and moved to Paris three years ago to complete graduate studies. I have master's degrees in Cellular Biology and International Relations. I am available to tutor in almost any high school level subject – sciences or humanities – making English lessons more interesting and multi-faceted for more advanced learners. Simultaneously, I have more than five years of experience teaching and working with younger children (under then years old) in English. I have worked as an English-speaking nanny for a one-year-old, four-year-old and a five-year-old. For a more creative spin, I propose clarinet or swimming lessons, areas in which I have more than ten years of practice. I am happy to adapt to the interests of the student and always aim to share English through a fun experience rather than a lecture. Please, do not hesitate to reach out!

About the lesson

My methodology is completely adaptable and depends entirely on the needs of the student. In general, I prefer to take an alternative approach to teaching. I gravitate toward learning through living or experiences rather than lectures. For younger learners, trips to the park, pool or with a preplanned activity at home offer engaging opportunities to learn. For more advanced students, conversational practice over coffee or a trip to a museum may prove enlightening. However, if lessons on grammar or a technical topic are necessary, I am able to use workbooks, exercises, demonstrations or lectures effectively. I do my best to keep these lessons light and funny since I find it is the best way to keep students engaged. If you have other ideas on how to learn, I am completely open and flexible. Let me know!

Prices are subject to change or adjustment depending on the activities agreed upon for the lessons or the level of the student. Prices do not include the cost of any activities which are complete with the lesson. If a trip to the pool costs 2€, the total cost of the lesson will be 18€ (for teaching) + 2€ (student's pool entry) + 2€ (teacher's pool entry) = 22€.
