About Mary-Jane
My experience spans more than thirty years of teaching in Belgian and American colleges, international organizations such as NATO and the EU, corporations, and community centers that offer ESL classes to immigrants and refugees.
But experience isn't everything I would like to offer. I like guiding students to a higher level while sharing in the joy of learning about and from one another.

My passion is teaching and I am intent on helping adult students feel comfortable in English by creating a personalized, tailor-made curriculum based on their specific needs.
My students range from college students, professionals and newly-arrived immigrants who wish to learn English for study or work-related purposes.
Our first (free) 30-minute session would be to determine your level and strengths in English. I would like to get to know you--your interests and motivation--to be able to create a work/study/practice plan that will show results. Believe me, we will work hard together to reach your goals!
Having lived the "immigrant experience" myself, I fully understand the nervousness one can feel when studying or working in a foreign language (for me, it was French). For this reason, I have always made a point of incorporating a good dose of humor into a challenging lesson plan.
