About Andrew
University of Oxford degree in Philosophy, Politics and Economics. 20 years+ experience, UK-based. (My editorial site, Rewriting, lists Commonwealth and other clients.) I have taught ESL in person and online for various age ranges, including university teachers in the Baltic states. I have helped French students aged 16-19 get into the most selective higher education institutions in their country, passing written, spoken and listening examinations. I have trained undergraduate, postgraduate and mid-career healthcare professionals in London, including on UK cultural context, inclusive language and public engagement in research and development. I have worked on communications for many international conferences - academic and professional - sometimes with over 40 nationalities present. This has included "rapporteuring" for working groups in real time, commissioning conference publications, and writing speeches and talking points.

I assist native English scholars too - that is the language level I can help you reach as an ESOL learner! I have broad interests in the humanities, social sciences and international development - we will have lots to talk about, and I enjoy the learning curve. Grammar troubleshooting; Accent-free, spoken confidence; Specialist phrasing and vocabulary; Advanced contextual/cultural knowledge. All of this will help you to progress in global academia and other knowledge industries. Let me know what you'd like to focus on; I will usually also identify language issues you are less aware of. You can be assured of a diversity-aware, friendly and supportive tutorial style blending formal and informal education methods.

Andrew is a reliable, friendly and skilled teacher. We met through public events at the London School of Economics (LSE). Previously he’d taught English in my home city (Vilnius, Lithuania) and travelled widely in Europe, so we were able to compare our experiences of countries and cultures. As someone who works in the creative industries, I can attest to his deep interest in language, culture, society and economy – making his lessons motivating and relevant for people at all stages of their careers.
Passionate, organized, patient - Andrew is everything you would want your tutor to be. Andrew's ability to make complex ideas accessible to students of all levels and from all background is unparalleled. Resourceful and immensely creative, Andrew always finds a way for his students to not only understand the material, but enjoy the process of learning itself. I can't recommend him enough!
I was course manager at a summer school where Andrew worked for years. I only ever collected positive feedback regarding Andrew from my students. Andrew has a talent for adapting his method of teaching to the students' level, and for successfully helping students understand the most complex topics. With his positive attitude, he always ensures students stay motivated and committed to learning.
I met Andrew 6 years ago when we both worked at a language school in Oxford. The course we taught was extremely demanding and required a breadth of knowledge on various topical issues. As part of our work relationship, I also sat in some of Andrew's lessons and his ability to explain complex information and inspire his students was always exemplary, allowing him to get an impressive performance from his students by giving them the exact information and tools that they needed to improve, be they in their writing or speaking skills. That is why I strongly recommend Andrew to the other Superprof members.
