About Xiomara
I have experience supporting students both academically and personally through mentorship and teaching roles. As a mentor to first-year students, I serve as a guide and point of support, helping them feel comfortable and confident as they navigate a new academic environment. I have also volunteered in a Sunday school setting, where I substituted for teachers and managed classrooms, giving me experience working with children in a structured and responsible way. I approach tutoring with patience, organization, and professionalism, and I am committed to helping students overcome challenges in the subjects they find most difficult! My lessons are interactive, supportive, and tailored to each student’s learning style. As a 4th-year Electrical Engineering student at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute who also minors in mathematics, I enjoy breaking down complex math concepts into clear, manageable steps that actually make sense. In a typical lesson, we’ll review key ideas, walk through problems together, and focus on areas where the student may feel stuck. I encourage questions and conversation, because understanding why something works is just as important as getting the right answer! What sets me apart is my ability to explain math in an approachable way while connecting it to the real world and how it can be used. I work with students from elementary through high school, as well as college students taking Precalculus, Calculus, or Differential Equations who want to feel more confident and less overwhelmed.
