About Tolu
My name is Tolu (or Miss Olu :D )
I have always loved working with young children, had a passion to teach/educate, and desired to constantly adapt my teachings for students who have limited themselves by their own beliefs but actually have the most potential to thrive in education with the right type of support.
I have learned that children require small, engaging, practical and valuable tips to develop interest in Reading and Phonics. Typically children in education learn tips or skills in school for Reading and Phonics that seem overwhelming and difficult to grasp. However, the Reading and Phonics skills that I will model and demonstrate to your child will surprise you by its effectiveness simply due to the fact your child can naturally implement them in their everyday tasks and suddenly become second nature.
Extra important information:
* This is not a school but extra support for children between 5 to 11 years old who may need help with Reading and Phonics.
* I am located in Birmingham however, these lessons will take place via Zoom.
* I do not teach a full school curriculum but I will apply teaching recommendations from the England National Curriculum to support the children. For example, engaging with fiction and non-fiction texts in a practical way to develop acquisition of knowledge and/or providing advise to support the child in reading at home with a grown-up.
* Due to the semi-flexibility of a university timetable, sessions will be restricted to 1 hour per week unless notified otherwise.

* I am a Psychology with Business graduate
* Current PGCE Primary & Early Years with Specialism in SEN, student
* Former teaching assistant for a reception class and 1:1 for children with SEN
* Subject focus is Literacy and Phonics - for Primary children (5 to 11 years old)
* All lessons would take place via Zoom and would last for 1 hour per week (1.5 hours for half terms or school breaks)
