About Miku

Hello! I’m Miku, a native Japanese teacher from Kagoshima in the south of Japan. I also lived on the tropical island of Amami Oshima. I’m currently based in New Zealand and teach Japanese online.

I have a background in business, having worked as an accountant in a listed company for four years, and I also have experience in hospitality. I lived with 21 rescued cats in Japan , which gave me patience and a big heart — qualities I bring to my teaching.

I’m also a language learner myself (English, Spanish, and Chinese), so I understand how challenging it can be to learn a new language. I aim to create lessons that are practical, positive, and enjoyable, helping you stay motivated while building real skills.

About the lesson

In my lessons, you will learn practical phrases for conversation, travel, and business, as well as clear explanations of hiragana and katakana. Lessons are structured step by step to help you gain confidence from the very first session. I personalize each lesson based on your goals and interests, so learning stays relevant and enjoyable.

I focus on practical conversation first, include cultural tips and real-life examples from Japan , and create a relaxed, friendly atmosphere. Whether you want to prepare for a trip, improve workplace communication , or strengthen your basics, I’ll be your supportive “running partner” in learning Japanese .
