About Sheridan
I am an Educational Consultant and Private Tutor based in London. I have worked as a tutor for the past 23 years, and very much enjoy working with students from primary school through to university. I did work as a lecturer, supervisor, and examiner (undergraduate and postgraduate) for a period of six years, which I also enjoyed, however, I still continued to tutor school-age students during this period.
In terms of consultancy, I specialise primarily in Oxbridge and UK Medical Schools, however, I also offer support in terms of school placements, and university support for Russell Group institutions.

I have over 23 years' experience preparing students for their 11+ examinations, including English, Maths, VR, NVR, scholarship exams, and mock interviews.
I read Maths with Physics at New Hall, Cambridge, followed by Classics at Somerville, Oxford. I then pursued a BPS accredited MSc in Psychology at Kingston University, followed by a PhD in Psychoeconometrics (JDM, Cognitive Psychology). I have since returned to Cambridge to complete a PACES (Educational Assessment) and an MEd (Transforming Practice) at Sidney Sussex College.
My background in Psychology and Education in particular has helped me to develop my skills as a practitioner. I have worked with a wide range of students across different ages, abilities (including those with special educational needs), and situations (including students who have opted for homeschooling). I understand that students are individuals, with unique learning styles and abilities. I ensure that I tailor the lessons to suit the student, so that they get the most out of each session.
Whilst I expect my students to try their best in the lessons, I only ever use positive reinforcement and see my role as being someone to help them to grow in their confidence and their abilities. I firmly believe that learning should be enjoyable, and I encourage my students to ask questions, even if they fall slightly outside the syllabus.
Most students elect to have one or two lessons per week, each of 60 minutes, however, I do tailor this to the student. Some students prefer one or two lessons of 90 minutes, and this is sometimes split to cover two disciplines (e.g. 45 minutes of Maths and 45 minutes of VR).

Sheridan tutored all three of my daughters to get into their secondary school. We have worked with her for many years and have recommended her to a number of friends who have needed tuition over the years. My daughters all enjoyed working with her, and we have hired Sheridan since for help with KS3 and GCSEs. I am certain that my daughters would not have done so well without private tuition, especially during the years they attended a state primary. I can't recommend her highly enough and we will continue to work with her.
Sheridan tutored my daughter Amira who was preparing for her A Levels. Amira was predicted a B grade but wanted to get at least an A to study Psychology at university. Sheridan taught her really well and worked with Amira on her EPQ which was also on Psychology. She left school with an A* in her ALevel. I can't recommend her enough and Amira got a place at Southampton- her first choice!

Details
I am mainly offering sessions online, however, outside the main examination seasons, I might be able to offer face-to-face tuition. If I am required to travel for the lesson, the minimum travel charge is £10 to cover time and petrol. If the charge is more than £10, I will advise you of this before any sessions take place.
I do ask for a minimum of 24hrs notice if you are unable to attend a lesson, otherwise, the fee for the lesson is due. I ask for this time to maximise the chances of being able to secure another student for the scheduled time. If I am able to find another student who can take the lesson slot, I do not charge a cancellation fee.
