About Katherine
I have a Masters in Sustainable Agriculture and a Bachelors of Science in Agronomy. Plant and soil science is extremely cross-disciplinary and encompass multiple scales to answer basic and applied research questions regarding the occurrence, fate and transport of pathogens, pathogen indicators, nutrients and contaminants of emerging environmental concern (CoEECs) such as antibiotics and antimicrobial resistance (AMR) to surface and groundwater systems. My work is focused on the impacts of agricultural practices on water quality. Through unique environmental monitoring, conservation practices help to mitigate the impact of agricultural nonpoint source pollution on downstream waters, and reduce public exposure to these contaminants.

I have experience communicating scientific principles to a wide range of audiences. My teaching approach is to connect these principles to something an individual cares about. This could mean exploring how our favorite recreational ecoregions are formed at the macro and micro scale.
