I focus on breaking down complex movements into small, manageable patterns that make sense in a real song context. Working through these technical hurdles helps you find a sound that feels honest. It is quite fun to see a student realize that the fretboard is actually a very logical grid.

Music theory, songwriting, and ear training form the core of how I approach the fretboard. I started as a player before formalizing my path with a Bachelor of Arts in Music and Spanish from the University of Melbourne. These days I support adults and intermediate players who possess a self-taught background but lack the necessary structure to progress. Gigging across the Australian Latin music scene for 13 years shaped my ears and my hands.
I often integrate my background in Spanish to help the Latin diaspora community connect with their roots through music. Providing clear direction to those stuck in a plateau is what keeps me engaged. It is a slow process that feels worth it.
