About Opal
Teaching Spanish keeps me connected to the bustling markets of Guadalajara where I grew up. The scent of fresh cilantro and the rapid cadence of street vendors define my native tongue.
I spent 6 years guiding beginners through their first words and helping heritage speakers sharpen their AP Spanish. My MA in Applied Linguistics from Boston College underpins every correction I provide on pronunciation or accent. I find real joy in helping students master complex idioms and expressions for interviews or reading comprehension. My work focuses on precision in intonation and natural speech patterns.

Fluency arrives when you bridge the gap between classroom textbooks and authentic conversation. It happens fast.
My 6 years of experience means I identify exactly where you stumble during our 1st session. We start by running a diagnostic level test to build a roadmap for your goals. This allows us to target specific weaknesses while keeping the process direct and immersive.
My sessions rely on the methods I used to help students earn 5s on AP exams and C1 certifications. You get the language as it is spoken in Guadalajara. Reach out if you want to see if we are a good match.
