About Kea
My name is Kea, and I am a full-time Research Assistant at Kaiser Permanente and a part-time tutor for Wyzant. I graduated from the University of Hawaii at Manoa studying Molecular Biology and Biotechnology. Some of my favorite memories at UHM were studying Chinese and researching the targeting specificity of retrotransposons of maize. I have been recently admitted to UHM's Doctor of Nursing Practice program in the Fall, where I plan to become a Family Nurse Practitioner. Outside of work and school, I like to play volleyball and read.

During college, I was a tutor for student athletes for two years in Organic Chemistry and 1 year in Biochemistry. As a student athlete in high school myself, I understood how difficult it was to juggle school, homework, your sport, and other extracurricular activities. I am passionate about helping others succeed, so I naturally wanted to continue tutoring after graduation. For the past two years, thanks to Wyzant tutoring, I have been helping college students all over the United States in Organic Chemistry and English. As a Chinese major, I was fortunate enough not only to study at the university, but also attend two summer immersion programs in China, studying Chinese at a high level. In learning a different language and culture, I was beginning to understand how to better connect with people, opening my mind to their beliefs and principles. This was a valuable lesson, because it shifted my paradigm and allowed me to better understand people from all walks of life, giving me the tools to be a mindful and versatile tutor. As a tutor, nothing gives me more joy than seeing these students put in the work and attaining the grades they deserve. Please feel free to contact me if you have any questions.
