About Katrina
I have taught English Language Arts for the past 7 years. I am a PLC leader, and I sponsor of Accelerated Learning Club, Homework Help Club, Student Counsel, and Academic Super Bowl. I have worked with students with diverse needs in grades 6-8. I have worked with students who are learning English as their second or third language, and I have worked with students who needed help keeping up with their homework assignments. I have even helped High Ability students because they wanted an extra challenge. I am also always open to feedback and make accommodations to best meet the needs of the parents and students.

In the first lesson, I like to ask the parents and students about what they need and would like to improve in. Then, I customize the lessons to the students needs. I can teach essential strategies by using a variety of digital tools. For example, I can teach reading comprehension strategies, testing strategies, note-taking, organizational strategies, formal writing, MLA formatting, in-text citations, grammar, spelling, and punctuation. I also put an emphasis on learning vocabulary as it is essential to student reading levels and improving test scores.
