About Stephanie
Playing guitar should feel like a conversation rather than a chore. Honestly, I spend most of my time balancing my performing schedule in Washington DC with my teaching practice.
I hold a Diploma in Music Performance and rely on a practical mindset. My 13 years of experience inform every interaction I have with my students. I typically support returning learners, kids, and teens who want to get moving on the instrument. We work on POWER CHORDS, chord transitions, and electric technique.
I also integrate music theory and reading tabs into our regular flow. Songwriting and improvisation are major parts of my teaching style. I handle tuning and maintenance issues as they arise in the room. You can expect a laid-back environment where we focus on what makes the instrument fun.

You do not need to memorize endless drills to sound good on your guitar. The best way to improve your soloing is actually to play along with high-quality audio files.
I create custom backing tracks for you to use at home so you can practice your improvisation over blues progressions and specific riffs. My Diploma in Music Performance ensures that we address the mechanics of barre chords properly from the start. I enjoy working with teens and beginners who just want to play at a party or record an EP.
My background in DC performance stages influences how I teach you to listen to the music. I really enjoy helping you bridge the gap between static exercises and live performance.
