About Norma
I am a dedicated and professional Science, Biology and Chemistry teacher who is passionate about helping students develop both their knowledge and their confidence. I believe that every student can succeed in Science when they are given the right support, encouragement and explanations.
My approach is student-centered, supportive and structured. I take the time to understand each student’s individual needs and adapt my teaching to suit their learning style, ensuring that difficult concepts are broken down into clear, manageable steps.
I create a positive learning environment where students feel comfortable asking questions, making mistakes and challenging themselves. Whether a student needs help understanding a challenging Biology topic, preparing for examinations, or simply building greater confidence in Science, my aim is to help them make measurable progress while developing a genuine understanding of the subject.

Hello, my name is Norma Ball and I qualified from the University of Limerick in 2007 with a Bachelor of Science and Education Degree in Biological Science with Chemistry. I am an experienced secondary school science teacher with a strong passion for providing high-quality, personalized science education to students outside the traditional classroom environment from age ranges 11 – 19 years old. I have worked in the UK education system for the past 17 years and have worked in the Irish education system for a total of two years.
My specialties are Biology and Chemistry to senior level and I have experience teaching Physics to a junior level. I specialize in creating engaging, structured and academically rigorous learning programs that are tailored to each student's individual ability, interests, learning style and long-term goals.
My approach combines the professionalism and curriculum knowledge of an experienced classroom teacher with the flexibility and individual attention that private education allows. I particularly enjoy helping students develop genuine curiosity about science, confidence in their own ability and the independent learning skills required for future academic success.
I have taught different exam boards throughout my career; AQA, OCR and Edexcel in the UK and in Ireland Junior and Leaving Certificate. Whilst teaching in the UK I worked at a senior level within the teaching and learning department for Science as well as whole school. My role was to develop schemes of work and design curriculums for different learning styles. Over the years I have created a huge range of resources which include tailored PowerPoint presentations, worksheets, differentiated assignments, revision technique guides, exam preparation booklets and exam question packs.
I have recently relocated back to Ireland from the United Kingdom to live and I am available to work with homeschooling families and international students online, providing one-to-one or small group tuition across secondary science. My aim is not simply to help students achieve excellent examination results, but to develop independent, confident and scientifically curious learners.
