About Rhys
I’m a passionate singing tutor with over 6 years of experience helping students of all ages and levels discover the beauty of their own voice. With a Bachelor of Arts in Music (Voice Emphasis), I bring both technical expertise and heartfelt guidance to every lesson. My teaching spans classical, pop, movie, and folk singing, allowing students to explore the genres that truly inspire them. I believe every voice is unique, and I design each session to meet the individual needs and goals of my students — whether they’re in school, college, or pursuing singing professionally. My lessons focus on ear training, harmony, improvisation, and music theory to help singers build confidence and control. I also place great importance on safe, healthy vocal techniques to support long-term growth and vocal wellness. Each class is interactive and encouraging, giving students a space to express themselves freely while learning discipline and artistry. I enjoy guiding learners through both the technical and emotional aspects of performance, helping them find their true sound and stage presence. Through personalized feedback and creative exercises, I make every lesson both productive and inspiring. My goal is to nurture voices, not just train them — to help each student sing with joy, strength, and authenticity. My singing methodology focuses on nurturing the voice as both an instrument and a reflection of inner balance. For every student, I begin with vocal wellness — teaching proper warm-ups, posture, and breath awareness to keep the voice flexible and strong. Hydration is emphasized daily, along with mindful pauses to rest and protect vocal cords from strain. I guide students to discover healthy vocal placement, ensuring tone comes from ease, not force.
For the Soloist in Training, lessons highlight personal expression and mindful control. We build vocal stamina through steady practice, mental focus, and breath-based calm. For the Church Ensemble Player, the focus extends to blending, harmony, and emotional connection while maintaining individual voice care. In both cases, mindfulness is at the heart of every note — transforming nerves into presence and joy.
Students are encouraged to use vocal tracking apps to monitor progress, mindfulness timers for practice breaks, and guided breathwork tools for relaxation. I help each learner find a rhythm that supports both their voice and their peace of mind. My goal is not only strong technique but also a lifelong love for singing — grounded in care, calm, and confidence.
