About Yaman

Teaching has been a passion since I was in high school and it inspired me to pursue graduate education. I have a P.hD. in Computer Engineering from University of Wisconsin - Madison. I have been a TA and an instructor for college courses on circuit analysis, mathematical methods for electromagnetics, digital design and fabrication. I have also been a part of several programs focussed on middle school and high school students on computer science and engineering. I have taken several courses with the Delta program to build my style and improve my techniques to be an effective teacher.
I have won several teaching awards, some for which I was nominated by my professors and some for which I was chosen by the student body.

About the lesson

Methods and Techniques: I have implemented several techniques borrowed from principles of active learning for college courses. I believe that learning is a product of actively doing the work and not listening.
Typical lesson plan: A typical lesson plan consists of an initial check in to make sure the student and I are on the same page regarding our goals from the session. Next, we review concepts/tools for at most 25% of the time we have together. The next 50% of the time is spent in solving problems where I can guide the thought process of the student correctly. Finally the remainder of the time is to reflect on what we learned and discuss other things the student can do to get better.
My uniqueness: I've been a tutor in official and unofficial capacity since high school. I won several teaching awards during my grad school. I was awarded a teaching fellowship to redesign several engineering courses during grad school (at University of Wisconsin - Madison)
Students I can teach: I have experience in teaching students from 9th grade through college. However, I have an aptitude and interest for teaching younger students too. I can teach most courses leaning towards engineering, mathematics, and physics.
