About Michaela

My name is Michaela Tai and I am a 20year old female living in Johannesburg, South Africa.
I am fluent in both English and Portuguese and fairly moderate in Afrikaans.

I have recently completed my TEFL 150HR Masters Course through Learn TEFL Academy. Throughout the course I obtained 80% and above for all of my tests and assignments as I found modules insightful and interesting. In terms of my final result I obtained an A.

I have previous educational experience from 2018 to presently whereby I have
been a self-employed tutor for people between the ages of 14-19 with subjects
such as English, Afrikaans, Mathematics literacy, History and seldom, Portuguese. I have previous work experience as a sales representative and insurance broker.

About the lesson

I have previous work experience as a sales representative and insurance broker which its skills can be useful in this field. When given training, I was always taught to put the needs of a customer first as well as build a relationship with them. This is useful as I am able to communicate with my students in a way that they respect me and never fear to ask for assistance. It also proves that I will put my students' needs first through revision and the re-explanation of topics or the use of different approaches to assist the
student in understanding the language better.

I include various techniques depending on the learner's ability to retain information. I believe in revision and the more practice, the better the improvement. I believe in the use of encouragement for my learners to gain confidence when learning. Often I hand out homework tasks to test whether the learner has retained the information learnt today.

Details

Lessons will be arranged according to the hours required. Online lessons will take place via Zoom Call/ WhatsApp Video Call or Skype. Payments are to be made either weekly or monthly, this may be discussed. Multiple lessons may be given per week, I then suggest looking at the 5hour package which would be 1hour per day for 5 days. If the learner is 15minutes late, the full amount for the hour will be owed. If the learner cancels less than 40hours before the date and time of the scheduled lesson, the full amount of the lesson will be owed. If I am 15minutes late or do not notify a student of a cancelled lesson, the lesson , payed for beforehand, will be refunded. If a Learner purchases the 10 Lesson package, they will receive one free lesson valued at 1.5 hours. My rates are subject to Monday-Friday (Mornings and Afternoons) and Saturday (Mornings Only). I am free to work on Public holidays.
