About Luke

Hi! I'm an experienced and CELTA-qualified English teacher based in Dublin, with over four years of experience teaching English to students from beginner (A0) to advanced (C1) level.

I've taught students from a wide range of backgrounds, ages and professions, helping them improve their general English, speaking confidence, pronunciation and exam skills. I have particular experience with IELTS, Cambridge English exams and the TIE, as well as helping students prepare for job interviews and communicate more confidently in professional and everyday situations.

I previously worked as an Assistant Director of Studies at an English language school in Dublin, where I supported students and teachers, carried out level testing and helped with academic programmes and student progress.

I believe learning English should be practical, enjoyable and tailored to you. Whether you're nervous about speaking, preparing for an exam, moving to Ireland, starting a new job or simply want to become more fluent, I'll adapt our lessons to your goals and interests.

I'm friendly, patient and happy to work with students at any level. Most importantly, I want you to leave each lesson feeling that you've learned something useful and are becoming more confident using English.

About the lesson

My approach is friendly, practical and student-centred. I want my lessons to be useful from the moment you start, whether your goal is to improve your confidence speaking English, prepare for an exam, improve your pronunciation, or simply feel more comfortable using English in everyday life.

I use a communicative approach, with plenty of opportunities for you to speak and practise. Depending on your needs, lessons can include conversation, role plays, pronunciation practice, vocabulary and grammar activities, listening tasks and personalised feedback. I also use guided discovery and practical examples to help students understand how and why English is used, rather than simply memorising rules.

I usually teach 60-minute lessons, although longer sessions can be arranged for intensive exam preparation.

I am a CELTA-qualified ESL teacher (Pass B) with over four years of teaching experience. I have taught students from A0 to C1 level and have experience preparing learners for Cambridge exams, IELTS and the TIE. I have also worked as an Assistant Director of Studies at an English language school, where I was involved in student assessment, academic support and teacher development.

I teach teenagers and adults from beginner to advanced level. My lessons are particularly suited to students who want to improve their speaking and pronunciation, prepare for IELTS or Cambridge exams, develop their workplace English, prepare for a job interview, or simply become more confident communicating in English.

Whatever your level or goal, I'll tailor the lessons to you and make sure we're working towards something practical and measurable.
