About Justin
I have 15+ years of experience teaching college-level humanities (philosophy, history, religion, literature, art, etc.). I hold a BA in Philosophy and History, and an MA focused on the history of theology.
I've long had a passion for philosophy and the history of ideas. Philosophy wasn't initially my major in college, but I'd taken so many philosophy courses just from personal interest that I eventually realized I only needed a couple more to satisfy the requirements of a major. I've maintained a passion for philosophy ever since, and I love sharing that passion with my students. If you need to level up in philosophy or just want to grow intellectually, I'm here for you.

I start by getting to know you along with your goals, challenges, and how you like to learn. Our time together will then be guided by this groundwork—personalized and structured yet flexible. I'll meet you where you're at and take you to the next level, at your pace. I think it important that we enjoy the learning process, so I aim to make the big ideas of philosophy come alive.
I emphasize deep understanding (major thinkers in their context, key ideas and concepts explained with concrete examples, placed in the broader storyline of the history of ideas, etc.) and genuine intellectual growth rather than mechanically memorizing information.
I can provide assignment and project assistance, exam prep, practice tests, and detailed feedback on writing and essays (I've graded thousands!) to increase your writing skills.
Or if you just want to grow intellectually through having deep-dive discussions about the great ideas of philosophy (world-shaping ideas, great books, the purpose/meaning of life, what it means to be human, etc.), I'd love to serve you as an intellectual mentor on that front.
