About Oliver
Hi my names Ollie and I’m a 21 year old student! I studied at a comprehensive secondary in Brighton and often failed to concentrate in large classes. I understand how difficult it can be for teenagers in mainstream education and hope to offer that extra, specialised support needed to reach their full potential. I’ve spent some time working in the care system and have substantial experience communicating with individuals whose needs may fall outside the norm.
I am a big football fan (Arsenal, though what reaction this admission earns I can only imagine) - sport has always been hugely important to me and helped me through the particularly awkward stages of childhood. I love reading, writing and listening to music - a somewhat generic and tasteless account of my personality, I would rather say that I am lighthearted, quick to laugh and to make friends, critical and, most importantly, genuinely interested in others and the way people think.
I would love to teach because I understand what feels like to be distracted in a busy classroom. I understand how stressful and overwhelming it can be when teachers are unable to accommodate for individual needs. More simply though, I love maths; being able to share my passion and help someone else find joy in it would be incredibly fulfilling.

My teaching will focus on personalised, client-led sessions where we will explore all aspects of the student course and provide clear insights and customised solutions to particularly difficult problems. I am available to teach the GCSE curriculum, but can tutor lessons for younger children as well, focusing on consistent supplementary support and building a strong foundation of mathematical understanding.
I aim to build a strong relationship with my pupils and foster an understanding that there are no stupid questions. Communication is paramount and will allow us to focus on areas the student finds most challenging.

I worked with Ollie at Sharron Collins Resource Centre, a care home for people with disabilities in Brighton. He was extremely patient, engaging and empathetic when leading activities and organising lessons. He’s a fantastic teacher, tailoring his tutoring approach based on the individuals needs and listening to what the students have to say!
