About Edward
In addition to my Spanish studies at university, I have developed a love of Spanish literature and spend much of my free time immersed in Spanish-language novels. I have also previously lived in Spain for a total of two years, and I attribute a great deal of my language proficiency to the practice I was able to get during this time.
Throughout the course of my two years working as an English language assistant in Spain, I worked in a primary school, two secondary schools, and a private English academy. As a result, I am very comfortable working with students of a variety of ages.
I consider these years to have been extremely formative in my own development as I was plunged into challenging, and at times intimidating, environments, in which I was required to always remain patient and level-headed. Regardless, I did thoroughly enjoy these experiences, and relished the challenge of working with students with a range of attitudes and abilities.
In terms of my experience teaching Spanish, I have had a number of clients, both online and in-person, and am happy to provide references if asked.

Hi! My name is Ed and I am a 23-year-old Spanish tutor currently based in Cambridge. I am a recent graduate, having completed a degree this past academic year in Modern European Studies (within which I studied Spanish language) from the University of Nottingham.
As a tutor, I am prepared to be flexible, making adjustments according to the needs of the individual. I understand that we all have different preferences for how we learn, and that a teaching method that is effective for one student may well be ineffective for the next student. It is my job as a tutor to listen to these preferences and adapt my lessons accordingly, as well as to use my own experience to help identify the optimal methods for each individual.
Additionally, lessons will vary depending upon the individual circumstances of the student. But regardless of these circumstances, I will always do my utmost to ensure that each lesson is engaging and digestible. After all, the greatest determiner of a student's success in any subject is his or her level of motivation, which can only be maximised when the student is enjoying the learning process.
While it is a common belief among people searching for a language teacher that they will learn best from a native speaker, I would argue that this is not the case. Having spent the past 9 years learning the ins and outs of Spanish grammar, I am in the perfect position to aid my students in their own attempts to grasp the complexities of the language through organised classes and comprehensible explanations. Having been a student of Spanish not too long ago myself, I believe that I am able to relate to my students and understand the challenges that face them in a way that most native speakers are not.
So whether you are a student trying to build confidence and needing help in covering a syllabus, or you simply desire to expand your horizons by learning a new language, I will do my best to make your Spanish-learning experience an enjoyable one!

Perfect! Ed had spent extra time preparing material that was perfectly suited to my level of Spanish and to my language goals; it means that I finish each lesson feeling that I am more proficient in Spanish than when I started.
He is also great at striking the right balance between encouragement and challenge; he is patient and very positive, but drops in 'stretch' questions to maintain interest in the lesson and nuance to my Spanish.- Paul is a very devoted and attentive student. He is a pleasure to teach.Edward's response :

Edward has surpassed my expectations of a Spanish tutor. He makes learning easy and provides a relaxed and non-judgemental space to learn in. I leaned Spanish living in Mexico whilst doing biological research so have very patchy and specific vocabulary. Edward is doing wonders filling in the gaps of my knowledge and explaining grammatical rules without the process feeling overwhelming. Each lesson feels like he has spent a lot of time considering what I need to learn but he also works with me to find out what I would like to learn too. He's a very conscientious, considerate, patient and professional tutor and I cannot recommend him enough.
I had some Spanish classes with Edward and was astonished at how much I began to progress in such a short amount of time. He helped me hugely with everything from grammar to conversational skills, and has really reinvigorated my enthusiasm for the language. I would recommend him for Spanish tutoring at any level. Thank you Ed!
Ed first started helping me with my Spanish in 2019 in preparation for an extended trip I was taking in Spain. Ed did an excellent choice of providing me with a solid structure to my learning, as well as keeping lessons highly entertaining through varying his activities and focusing on conversation topics specific to my interests. In all, I was hugely impressed with Ed's service, and hadn't realised learning a new language could be as fun and stimulating as he made it! I've now signed up for a further set of sessions with him which I'm greatly looking forward to!
Ed’s a patient teacher and a good listener. I’d definitely recommend him if you’d like to improve your Spanish!
