About Jakila
I’m a senior in high school whose always had a love for sharing knowledge. Being a student in the current day school system, I see and experience first hand the short comings of the school system. Schools lack the ability to prioritize student’s individual academic strengths. I’ve found my piers as well as myself memorizing lessons just to pass, instead of learning from the curriculum, knowing how and where to apply it, then applying it as needed. I knew after graduating eighth grade I wanted to help others find a love for academia. I started volunteering at a community center in Chinatown, to make an impact on others. from there I’ve tutored over 15 people across the Chicago area. Including a 3rd year college student, helping them get into their maters program.

I’m very passionate that my students not only grasp the information taught to them, but also feel confident and Secure in being able to apply the information. My methods varies from person to person. I cater to my students individual academic strengths, critical thinking skills, and which of the learning styles they will best exceed with. For example. Those of my students Who are visual learners; I like to give demonstrations, draw out the lessons, or watch videos of others demonstrating the lesson.
