About Sarah
I have a degree in Spanish from Washington State University (Go Cougs!), and I've taught it in both a high school classroom and a Spanish-only elementary school. I've also lived in Spain and traveled extensively throughout Spanish-speaking countries.
Here's what makes me different: I learned Spanish as a second language myself, not as a native speaker. That means I know exactly what's confusing, what clicks, and what doesn't — because I had to learn it the same way you will.
I'm especially good with beginners and anyone who's felt intimidated by language learning before. I tailor every lesson to the student — whether that's vocabulary, verb conjugation, pronunciation, or just building confidence to speak. No experience necessary. I'd love to help you (or your student) make real progress, and the first lesson is on me so we can see if it's a good fit. :)

Every lesson starts with a quick assessment of where you're at, so we're not wasting time on things you already know or skipping over gaps. From there, we build a plan around your actual goals — whether that's passing a Spanish class, prepping for a trip, catching up on schoolwork, or just becoming a more confident speaker.
A typical lesson might focus on vocabulary, verb conjugation, pronunciation, reading, or conversation practice — depending on what you need most that week. I keep things structured but flexible, and I always explain the "why" behind grammar rules instead of just having you memorize them (this is where being a non-native speaker really helps — I remember what didn't make sense to me at first).
I work with all ages and all levels, from complete beginners to students brushing up before an exam. No prior Spanish experience needed — if you're nervous about starting, that's exactly who I love teaching.
