About William

Tutoring 30+ students in Oxford since 2017.
My students consistently achieve 1-2 grades above their predicted grade at A level and 1-3 grades above predicted at GCSE.
I have previously worked in schools as an academic mentor to students aged 15-18 and understand the skill set required to attain high marks in history exams.

About the lesson

I am a history graduate who offers tuition to A level and GCSE history students of all abilities. My lessons are structured around two core aims. Firstly, developing a strong and comprehensive understanding of the key ideas which feature in the syllabus through discussion and individual reading.
Secondly, developing essay writing skills to be able to effectively use historical knowledge and analysis in exam style questions.

My tuition style is catered specifically to the needs of the individual student. I plan my lessons in tandem to the lessons that the student is undergoing at school/college. The aim is not to overload the student with knowledge, but to develop a confidence and understanding in their own school work as they progress through the syllabus.

I highly recommend Will as a tutor, he’s confident and charismatic, and I’ve had the pleasure of working with him as a teaching assistant in a secondary school over the last year. He’s driven and enthusiastic and has an incredible ability to connect with students of all ages and abilities to help them succeed in their work.
Whilst working at the school he offered sixth form tutoring in history and his subject knowledge has enabled him to offer support to those preparing for their final exams and coursework essays.
He is also fantastic at tailoring his approach to suit the students he works with, and is good at communicating both simple concepts and more advanced topics of the history curriculum.
