About Gemma

I have been teaching AP history courses for 6 years. I have been trained in the new AP World course. I have taught almost 600 students in that time and have achieved 3's, 4’s, and 5's on the exam. I specialize in teaching students the skills, while also discussing content. I have been an AP reader for four years. I have experience with how the College Board grades DBQs and LEQs.

About the lesson

My teaching method is more conversational and I do teach through humor to help students remember and understand concepts. I have taught grade levels from 9th all the way to senior level. I tend to go chronological and with AP, there is a concentration on causes and effects, rather than memorizing dates. I concentrate on the why something occurred and what happened as a result of it, connecting it to larger themes throughout history. These are skills that can be used throughout high school and college. I will work with you on skills through practice and go through the work with you to help you see strengths and weaknesses. For writing skills, it’s very formulaic. My pass rate is 90% so if you put in the work, you can pass!

Although some of her work is a little difficult, she’s very understanding and will help any individual who shows the motivation to learn and improve.
