About Ian
With two years of tutoring experience and an MSc in Theoretical and Computational Chemistry, I teach Chemistry through the fascinating lens of forensics. My lessons cover drug analysis, toxicology, and investigative techniques. Simulated case files provide hands-on practice with real-world scenarios. Analytical instruments, like chromatography and spectroscopy, are introduced with clarity. I explain how each technique uncovers evidence in crime labs. Ethical considerations are always included, as science must serve justice fairly. I integrate ideas from law, physics, and biology into lessons for a broader view. My students include aspiring forensic scientists and law enforcement trainees. Each receives tailored support to achieve their goals. Lessons are engaging, discussion-based, and problem-oriented. Feedback is supportive, helping students build confidence and understanding. Chemistry becomes a bridge between science and justice. Together, we explore how evidence tells stories. My goal is to inspire learners to apply chemistry to solve mysteries and protect society.

A clear, systematic approach is essential for mastering Chemistry. I focus on organic chemistry, guiding students through nomenclature, functional groups, reaction mechanisms, and isomerism. Complex structures are broken down step by step. Organic synthesis exercises strengthen problem-solving and application skills. Visual aids, models, and diagrams help learners visualize molecules and reactions. Lessons are connected to environmental and marine applications to show relevance. Students preparing for careers as environmentalists or marine biologists gain practical insights. Feedback is consistent, highlighting progress and areas for improvement. Each lesson builds on the previous, following a structured path. Interactive discussions keep learners engaged and curious. My teaching balances theory, practice, and real-world applications. Organic chemistry becomes a subject that students can approach with confidence. Every learner receives guidance to excel academically. Together, we explore the carbon compounds that shape our world.
