About Opal
With 3 years of teaching experience and a Bachelor of Arts in Music Theory specializing in guitar, I bring both academic depth and practical knowledge to every lesson. My approach goes beyond chords and scales. I help students understand the fundamentals of music production, audio engineering for guitarists, and home recording techniques. Together, we explore tone shaping, effects pedals, and the nuances of basic mixing. I also emphasize microphone placement, giving students the skills to capture their best sound in any setting. My goal is to create well-rounded musicians who don’t just play but also produce their artistry with confidence. Over the years, I’ve guided guitarists from early intermediate learners to advanced intermediate performers, as well as professional session players. My teaching approach is designed to prepare guitarists for the real world of music. I go beyond scales and chords to focus on ensemble playing, band dynamics, and the art of blending with others. You’ll learn how to listen, respond, and complement the musicians around you. Stage presence and live performance etiquette are central parts of my lessons. I teach how to step on stage with confidence and professionalism. Fingerstyle players get the tools to shine both solo and in a group. Late bloomers find encouragement and techniques to grow steadily in collaborative settings. My sessions are practical and interactive, giving you real-world rehearsal experience. We’ll practice how to adapt to different musical styles and personalities in a band. I believe music should be shared, and that skill develops best in community. Every lesson builds toward readiness for the stage. Together, we’ll make sure you don’t just play—you perform.
