About Mattie
My name is Mattie, and I’m currently an undergraduate student working toward my A.A.S. in Dental Hygiene. I offer tutoring for students in kindergarten through 10th grade in English, math, and science, with a strong focus on science and English/writing. I understand that school can sometimes feel overwhelming or frustrating, and I’m here to make learning feel more manageable and a lot less stressful.
My approach is relaxed, patient, and tailored to each student. I like to explain things in a simple, easy-to-understand way and connect lessons to real-life situations whenever possible. A typical session feels more like working through things together than being “taught”—we’ll go over what you’re learning, break it down step by step, practice it, and make sure you actually feel confident before moving on.
What sets me apart is that I truly focus on helping students feel comfortable and supported. As a mom, I bring a lot of patience and understanding, and I know how important it is for students to feel safe asking questions without feeling judged. My goal is not just to help with grades, but to help students feel more confident in themselves and their abilities, no matter where they’re starting from.

I break down concepts into simple, manageable steps and use real-life examples to make learning feel more relatable and less overwhelming.
A typical lesson begins with a quick check-in to see what the student is currently working on or struggling with, followed by guided instruction where I explain concepts clearly and work through examples together. I then give the student a chance to practice independently while I provide support and feedback, ending with a short review to reinforce what was learned.
What sets me apart is my ability to connect with students in a calm, supportive way while building both their confidence and understanding. As a mother, I bring an extra level of patience, care, and understanding to how I work with children and young students. I genuinely enjoy helping students grow and succeed, especially in areas like reading, writing, and science comprehension. My lessons are designed for younger learners and early high school students who need extra support, skill-building, or confidence in their coursework.
