About Lily
My name is Lily Jinx Yontef, I am 21 years old and I have been studying music since I was 5, first on piano; and then sax and clarinet. I have a ton of jazz experience, and was also classically trained in piano from a young age. I’m currently studying Jazz Performance at Berklee College of Music, and I also studied at the university of CT prior. I have played in Big Bands for almost 12 years now, and my passion is improvising creatively and playing music from the soul. I currently play in my own Jazz/Metal fusion band playing my original music as well as a multitude of other ensembles and bands. I am quite busy, but I am generally available in the evenings and on weekends. I beleive in the importance of live playing to improve, and for local students I will encourage them to join me at Jam sessions around Boston, as well as organize opportunities for them to play with groups when they are feeling ready for that.

I believe in an individualized approach to teacher private lessons, and while I have a core curriculum and subjects that I likeley will discuss with every student, my goal is to make sure you are getting what you want out of lessons, whether that is jazz, classical, rock, ear training, reading, music theory, or composition, we can deep dive into any of these topics. If you are coming to me for in person lessons I will have a piano available. My goal is to help you grow as an overall musician, becoming more confident in whatever your musical niche is as well as skills that will help you in all areas of the proffesional music world. Additionally I am happy to cater to personal insterests, whether your goal is to play in a Band with your friends, for school, or just to do some recording on your own, whatever it is I’m here to help :)
