About Emmanuel
I'm a Computer Engineering student and started learning chess in late 2021. In March 2022 I was around 300. Now I'm rated 2100 on Chess.com, no coach, no lessons, only games, analysis and trying to figure things out through trial and error.
This climb is precisely the reason why I teach. I have been through every stage of progression myself, and I can perfectly relate to the frustrating plateaus, when the lightbulbs switch on and all the little things that differentiate a "stuck" player from a "improving" one. Since I had no one that could help me avoid the unnecessary struggles of this journey, it means you will have this guidance.
If you're somewhere around the middle and you don't know what to change in order to improve, this is who I coach. I will help you find the blind spots and the way to move forward.

I am a self-taught player rated 2100 on chess.com, and the fact I had to figure it out myself is precisely what allows me to teach it to you. I know what it's like to face those plateaus that intermediate players can't break through because I've faced them and overcome them myself.
My lessons target players who are in the 1000-1600 range and wish to achieve advanced levels. I usually teach a lesson for one hour at a time, and I tend to stick to concepts that will make an immediate impact at the intermediate level. These typically include pattern recognition, positional chess, opening strategy, and minimizing blunders.
I don't use books or the standard curriculum of lessons that teachers often use. I teach from experience so that you will be able to apply something from my lesson immediately to your game!
