About Harper

I built a career planning weddings and events for years before shifting toward teaching, and that hospitality background still shapes almost everything about how I run a French lesson today. Six years into teaching now, I've worked with about one hundred students, many of them hospitality professionals or people wanting genuinely polished, confident service-industry communication skills. My planning background gives me unusually direct insight into exactly what smooth, professional communication actually requires under real pressure and tight timelines. I work particularly well with students in hospitality, events, or client-facing roles, since that's precisely the world I spent years actually working within myself. My teaching style is polished, practical, and genuinely warm, built on real, lived event management experience rather than purely academic language training alone. I have guided numerous students toward confident professional communication, drawing on genuine hospitality experience rather than generic classroom assumptions about service language. Students consistently tell me the specificity of my scenario-based teaching feels far more useful than generic conversation classes they tried previously elsewhere. I take genuine pride in helping students handle a demanding client or vendor conversation confidently and diplomatically in French. After six years, I remain genuinely passionate about this polished teaching approach.

My years planning weddings and events taught me exactly how much smooth, confident communication matters under real pressure, and that shapes a genuinely practical approach to teaching French. Lessons focus heavily on hospitality and event language, vendor conversations, client meetings, coordinating logistics, the exact scenarios I navigated constantly throughout my planning career. Vocabulary training centres on service, hospitality, and coordination language, genuinely useful words many students need for events, hospitality work, or simply confident social situations. I run realistic roleplay constantly, practising vendor negotiations, client check-ins, and handling last-minute problems calmly, since these situations came up regularly in my own real work. Grammar gets taught through polite, professional phrasing, since tone and diplomacy matter enormously in service and hospitality contexts where I spent years working directly. Listening practice includes real conversational speech at natural pace, since clients and vendors never spoke slowly or clearly for anyone's convenience during actual events. I teach students to stay calm and diplomatic under pressure, a skill years of live event management taught me matters more than almost anything else. Cultural context around hospitality, tone, and appropriate formality receives real, dedicated attention throughout every single lesson. Confidence-building stays central, since hesitation causes far more real problems in service situations than actual vocabulary gaps ever do. Every lesson stays genuinely practical and polished.
