About Lara
My name is Lara Hernandez, Woman Candidate Master (WCM), former French Cadet Champion (2015), with a peak Elo rating of 2053. I’ve had the privilege of representing France at the European Championships in Croatia and the World Championships in Greece, competing against some of the best young players globally.
In 2023, my coaching experience allowed me to work with:
The French Vice-Champion in the U8 category (a future Magnus, perhaps?)
The sister of the double French U10 Champion (chess runs in the family!)
Young players who became French Team Champions in the prestigious Top Jeunes competition!
With over 15 years of playing experience and 8 years of teaching, I share my passion for chess with a wide audience, from children as young as 5 to experienced adult players. I love supporting my students in their chess journey, always fostering a positive and motivating environment.

For beginners: Let’s build a solid foundation! Learn to move your pieces with purpose, master key tactics, and understand why they always say, "Think about your king."
For intermediate players: Say goodbye to games without a plan! I’ll help you decode positions, activate your pieces like superheroes, and develop strategies worthy of the greatest masters.
For competitors: It’s time for intense training! We’ll analyze your games (with tact and encouragement), optimize your openings, and focus on psychological preparation to shine in tournaments.
From ages 5 to 105, whether you're a prodigy or a passionate amateur, my lessons are designed to suit you!
And no worries, I speak both French and English fluently (even when explaining why the bishop isn’t called a "fool" in English).
