About James
I've been playing trumpet for about 10 years now, and I've had a lot of training and experience playing from very knowledgeable players, including but not limited to, Daniel Harvey, Ben Skinner, and John Lovell from the Coral Reefer Band.
I was in marching band for 3 years in high school, with 1 state championship in Florida, and 3rd place finalists twice, up against about 30 bands each year.
I was first chair in my band in 10th-12th, and I routinely thought the lower chairs on how to play better. This either came from class time, or leading sectionals.
One thing I've learned in my time playing, is that a long practice is not necessarily better, but having the correct materials and instruction will take you farther. I believe I have both.

About the lesson

Starting from the basics, we will learn how to read music, what consists of a scale, the fingerings for notes, and how to form your lips to create a good sound.
I will ensure that good habits are formed along the way, such as how to hold the instrument properly, how to treat it, how to care for it, not putting too much pressure on your face, and good practicing techniques.
Once we start advancing, we will work on tounging techniques, Lip slurs, clark studies, faster fingerings, advanced scales, and achieving higher notes with good technique.
Ideally we would meet every week or more, and see how the practice is coming, and I will write out a practice plan. This plan can range from a beginner plan, to an advanced level plan.
