I can describe myself as friendly, enthusiastic and respectful. As a teacher, we can easily get respect from the students if they would feel respected first. First, English is a language and not a basis of intelligence. We might be better than our students when it comes to speaking and understanding English but they might be more intelligent and talented than us.
